Volunteer Information

Please answer the following questions to indicate how you would like to help with the rescue dogs, operations, and administration.

Helping With The Saints

Transporting

Assist in the transport of animals to and from locations in Maryland, DC, and Virginia. Saints need rides from time to time to bring them into the rescue from owners and shelters to get them to fosters that help with the rescue. Adopting families may also live in another area and may not be able to pick up their saint from a foster for many reasons. As a transporter you would help get our saints where they need to go.
Taks would include:

  • Accepting surrendered saints into the rescue from owners, shelters, and other rescues
  • Delivering saints to foster locations
  • Pick-up of saints from foster locations and delivering them to adopted families
  • Handling of all paperwork required such as surrender forms, adoption contracts, etc...
Yes, Interested No, Not Interested

Limitations on helping as a transporter such as vehicle type, travel area, or other preferences like only accepting dogs into the rescue or delivering to adopted families.

Events

Help out with rescue events such as adoption days or dog expos. Unfortunately not all of our saints have homes once they are brought into the rescue. Adopters may also not know about the rescue or event that they would love to have a saint as part of their family. From time to time the rescue will put on adoption events to get some stranded saints to their forever homes or put on dog expos to help get awareness out about saints and generate interest in adoption.

Yes, Interested No, Not Interested

Limitations on helping with resuce events such as location, type, or size of events.

Fostering

Become a foster and give an unfortunate saint a temporary home. A big part of rescuing saints is getting them the help they need. Saints come to us in all conditions and as a foster you can nurture them back to health and provide a safe but temporary home until we can get them placed with the right families.
Tasks would include:

  • Picking up saints from shelters, previous owners, or other rescues
  • Evaluating saints behavior, health, and attitude toward people and other animals
  • Making sure all required vet appointments are kept
  • Providing food, water, and treats (if you\'re so inclined!) for saints in your care (Rescue does help with some food needs)
  • Providing a safe environment for rehabilitating saints
Yes, Interested No, Not Interested

Limitations on fostering such as size/age of dogs (puppy or adult only), number of dogs, areas available to pick-up or drop off, or preferences on saint\'s condition such as no serious medical problems.

Helping With Administrative tasks

Applications

The rescue is constantly receiving applications to foster, volunteer (which you are filling out now), or adopt saints on a daily basis. We need help contacting all of these people back, verifying each application, and completing other steps. This helps get volunteers and fosters to hit the ground running and makes sure potential adopting families are treated well so that recommendations will help get more saints a forever home.
Tasks would include:

  • Reviewing applications through our online management system
  • Reaching out to applicants to verify information, schedule home visits, and walk them through the process
  • Making sure all required paperwork is completed throughout the process
  • Representing the rescue in a caring and professional manner and being a point of contact for your applicants
Yes, Interested No, Not Interested

Notifications

As a volunteer, no matter where you\'re able to help out you may receive notifications from our online management application when changes occur, new events are scheduled, if newsletters are sent out, etc... We would just like your permission to send you these notifications to the email address you provided above. Yes, I would like to receive notifications No, I would prefer not to receive notifications

Home Visits

To make sure our saints are placed and stay home visits are required to verify that each potential home is a good place for a saint. Each adoption applicant will need to have their home evaluated in person because what looks good on paper may not be so good in person.
Tasks would include:

  • Visiting applicants homes
  • Evaluating homes for safety, attitude of owner, other animals (in the area), etc..
  • Completing required paperwork for home visits
  • Representing the rescue in a caring and professional manner while having some fun and meeting new people
Yes, Interested No, Not Interested

Please list restrictions you may have with completing home visits such as service area and availability.

Fundraising

Everything costs money and being a non-profit charity helps but money is still required after discounts. The charity is always accepting donations from individuals and businesses but we could always need more help.
Tasks would include:

  • Developing fundraising events
  • Visiting businesses to ask for donations
  • Manning a donation table in areas high in foot traffic
  • Representing the rescue in a caring and professional manner while having some fun and meeting new people
Yes, Interested No, Not Interested

Please list restrictions you may have with fundraising such as service area and availability.

Other Ways to Help

There are other ways you can help the rescue as well. Let us know if you have any ideas, special skills, or certifications that would benefit the rescue or saints.

Please briefly explain why you would like to volunteer with us and how you think you can help out the best.
